I build the marketing bridge that connects you to new customers!
Below are a list of the vehicles we use to come up with a strategic local marketing strategy for our clients.
The tools we use and how we use them depends on your business model and your customer's buying habits. The great thing about many of these practices is they work quickly!
Google Business Places Listing
This is a VERY important part of the puzzle. It needs to be claimed and optimized for your business contact information. Additionally, no one knows about or does this but your Google+ listing can be posted on and optimized just like a Facebook post. Using the right phrases and hashtags can help your business to come up for popular searches.
This is one of the most under-valued and under-used marketing tools. I will never understand why. Most business owners that are using it - are doing it wrong. Designing an email newsletter written to educate your customers and keep them informed of special offers and promotions will grow your business. For many retail businesses it can literally drive traffic to your store THAT DAY!
Customer Loyalty Programs
Let's face it, business is competitive these days! Not only are you competing with the store across the way - but now you're competing with the Internet! The business that not only accepts this reality but embraces it and comes up with strategic ideas to hold onto/gain customers will not just survive but thrive! Many businesses are under the impression that incorporating a customer loyalty program means big discount. Not necessarily! In fact the main objective of any program should be the overall goal of increasing transaction amounts per customer! Additionally, customer loyalty programs need to be put into place so that you keep your customer coming back every time they need what you sell!
Reviews and Reputation
Review marketing is absolutely critical to a consumer-driven business model! Research indicates a one-star increase in a business rating can equate to a 5% to 9% revenue increase! The reverse is 87% of consumers can lose trust in your business if they see a negative review written about you. Ignoring these marketing tools can literally cost you business! Develop a strong strategy to first drive and encourage positive reviews for your business. Secondly, keep your ears and eyes peeled constantly for bad reviews and deal with them immediately. Every business should have a plan in place to address bad reviews.
Not enough businesses embrace this marketing opportunity and that's one of the many reasons why they can struggle and lose customers. We help our clients to outline who their competitors are and then from time to time we take a little peek just to see what they are up to on social media as well as other places. It's not about copying their behavior - its about knowing it. Are they getting bad reviews? Do you see areas of weakness? When was the last time you took a peek?
Directories such as Yelp need to be claimed and optimized. The important thing to understand here is your acceptance of this responsibility is irrelevant. These directories are online and there's probably many that have your business name in them. When your customers do a search for your business directly or as a category these listings appear. We've found that 70% of the time there is incorrect information on these directories. This is why it's important they are constantly managed for errors and also reviews.
Optimizing Your Business for Search
Consumers are searching for your business either directly (by your business name) or indirectly (i.e. dry cleaner Birmingham Al). This is another one of those things that doesn't need your acceptance for it to happen so you need to be aware of it constantly. There are so many facets to how search interacts with your business. Your website should be optimized for content mark-up and keywords first of all (Phrases that signal the search.) Secondly, voice search is gaining momentum so that is also a big consideration. Third, mobile is a top consideration, discovering how a mobile visitor interacts with your business is crucial as over half of your visitors will be on a mobile device. Additionally, we find out which citations are best for your business and then we create and manage them.
Using cost per click advertising is a smart and fast way to expand your reach and grow your customer base. Platforms such as Google, Bing, Facebook and Yelp can be great considerations depending on your business model. Say you're not appearing in a particular Google search that's critical to your business? Use a paid ad to get there. Most business owners think people don't click on Google ads, if you're one of them, I'm here to tell you that you're wrong! They do! The other consideration is a mobile user doesn't necessarily make a connection between a paid ad and an organic search result. All they know is they want immediate satisfaction! Google ads have a cool little phone that says click-to-call. Searchers love it because it's convenient! The business owner who embraces and uses these smart tools is the one that's growing and thriving in today's competitive world!
Learning how to use social media as it pertains to your particular business model is crucial to expanding your customers. Many times a business owner will tell me that it's too overwhelming and there are too many things going on. The main consideration isn't what social media is, but what it is to your particular business. So using Twitter for example may not make sense for your business. Many times I see business owners using platforms they don't even understand or have a strategy for then they blame it on social media as a whole by saying it doesn't work. Just because you did it wrong doesn't make it a fail. It's about having a planned out strategy and knowing exactly how you're going to use a particular platform and then gaging results.
The proper definition of a sales funnel is a marketing system. It’s the “ideal” process you intend your customers to experience as they go from Prospect to Lead to Customer to Repeat Buyer. A sales funnel can look very different from business to business.
How it is set up depends on the objective and what your sales process looks like. Is it to get new customers/clients? Cross-selling to existing ones?
Is your business point of sale? Or do you have a sales cycle? A sales funnel is most successful when the objective is extremely clear and a solid process is carried out to fruition.
Let us build a sales funnel for your business that creates a constant stream of leads. We will work with you to determine your objective and sales process then it's a matter of putting the pieces together.
A Strategic Plan and Paint By Numbers Process
The two hardest parts about marketing are first knowing exactly what to do and second carrying it out without fail. Marketing is the force that drives new customers to your business! Too many business owners are using the hope and pray method. Perhaps it got you somewhere in the past but that is over now. Every time I ask a retail business owner what's your number one issue they say I need more customers. I ask them what marketing tools they're using and the answer is either none or what they are using they're doing a bad job because they don't have a strategy or a process. There are times a business owner can develop a strategy of sorts but when they don't get immediate results they get bored with it or assume it doesn't work. This is why someone like me is worth GOLD to you! I will develop a process, see it through without fail, and create results.
